Kevin Red Star brings a special joy to his canvases with the use of intensely brilliant colors and an almost mystical use of light. The heritage of his crow culture provides the basis for his work, both modern and historical. The anatomical features of his subjects are exaggerated and the haunting eyes of his subjects. An experienced hand that adds a deeper dimension to the work finishes the canvas. These characteristics define the work of this internationally acclaimed artist.

Kevin was born in Lodge Grass, Montana on the Crow Indian Reservation. He is the third oldest in a family of nine. His mother is a skilled craftswoman and his father had a strong interest in music. It was this nurturing environment that helped Kevin develop an early artistic capability.

Kevin’s work is on display in permanent collections around the world including The Smithsonian Institution; Denver Art Museum; the Heard Museum in Phoenix; the Institute of American Indian Art in Santa Fe; the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indian and Western Art in Indianapolis; and the Whitney Museum of Western Art in Cody, Wyoming. Internationally his works are displayed in the Peirre Cardin Collection in Paris; and museums in Belgium, China, Germany, and Japan.

While in Red Lodge, take the time to visit this extraordinary gallery.
