| Benjamin O’Fallon, Indian agent, Army officer, and nephew of explorer William Clark, serves as this community’s namesake. Situated near the Yellowstone River, Fallon was once a grazing area for bison, cattle, and sheep. When the Dust Bowl blew away much of the area’s topsoil, Fallon’s distinction as a grazing area disappeared. Today, the town is surrounded with rich grain fields. | |||||||||||||||||
