The Blackfoot indians rove through this quarter of the country and as they are a vicious lawless and reather anabandoned set of wretches I wish to avoid an interview with them if possible

I belieive they (8 Piegan Indians) were more allarmed at this accedental interview than we were. . .as soon as they found us all in possession of our arms they ran and endeavored to drive off all the horses.
