| In 1887, Fr. Peter Paul Prondo, a Jesuit Priest, established the first mission at St. Xavier. The church still stands today and is in use as a school affiliated with the St. Labre Mission in Ashland. It is now called the Pretty Eagle School after a famous Crow Chief.
