The Western Heritage Center is located in the Billings Historic District on Montana Avenue. It resides in the old Parmly Library that was donated to the city in 1901 by Fredrick Billings Jr. The museum features wonderful historic displays of the Yellowstone River Region. There is a large collection of historic photographs, artifacts and other memorabilia that invite you to revisit the past of the frontier life. Relief maps give a good overview of the region’s natural landforms. The Center also offers tours, educational programs and organizes a number of cultural events Admission is free and it is open daily year round, except closed the month of January.
