Pathway Through the Bible

Location: 2 miles north of Joliet
A German immigrant, Adolph Land, moved to Montana from Iowa in 1952 with his wife, Helen, and a small pile of rocks. While supporting themselves by selling honey and trees, he decided to build a rock garden similar to “The Grotto” in West Bend, Iowa. The project turned into a 23 year endeavor that resulted in the “Pathway Through the Bible”, an elaborate display of biblical stories represented in rocks.

Over the years the Land’s collected rocks from all corners of the state and created gardens of flowers, shrubs, and rock formations of biblical characters and stories. After Adolph passed on, Helen sold the property to Verdine and Rick White who were willing to maintain the property with the reverence it earned over the years.

The garden gate is always open for public enjoyment. Guests are free to wander and only asked to respect the property owner’s privacy.
