Named after gold prospector Henry Edgar, this community lies in the Clark Fork River’s lower valley. When the town originated with land donated by a man named Thornton, the community was to be laid out with a strict moral code and no saloons allowed. Thornton’s village remains to this day, although it is unknown if residents adhere to Thornton’s early wishes.
