| It’s a little challenging to get to the mine shafts, cabins, and brothel that still stand here. You might even see an occasional moose, elk, deer, or grizzly bear. Located at an altitude of about 10,000 feet, the view of the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness area is stunning from Independence. Plan on using 4WD or a good pair of hiking boots. Both wouldn’t be a bad idea. |
