This town is the namesake of cattleman H. J. "Two Dot" Wilson. Wilson was sensitive to the risk of theft by rustlers so he made his brand by putting a dot on the shoulder and another on the thigh. This ingenious marking was pretty difficult to alter. Thus the nickname "Two Dot."
