Wild Game Cook-Off

Deer. Elk. Bear. Moose. You name it, and Montana’s wlldlife scene probably has it. It’s no wonder, then, that residents and hunters from across the world flock to Montana each fall in pursuit of a trophy big game catch. In honor of this beloved activity, the small town of Ennis welcomes individuals of all ages to its annual Hunter’s Feed and Wild Game Cookoff. Originating as a simple means of helping local hunters clean out their meat freezers before stocking it anew with the current hunting season’s big catches, this festival has grown into a lively culinary showcase with participation from every Main Street merchant.

Visitors are treated to unique gourmet creations ranging from deer fudge to elk chili to moose meatballs. After sampling all the tasty delights, vote for your favorite eat and watch as the elected event judges crown the new “Best Wild Game Dish” winner. Held every October just prior to the opening of big game rifle hunting season, this event is sure to rev your hunting spirit and culinary imagination!
