- Montana has been ranked as one of the four smartest states in the country based on its quality of public elementary and secondary schools.
- 96% of Montana schools have internet access, and the state is one of the top nine in the nation for student computer availability within public schools.
- Montana ranks #1 in foreign language programs available to elementary aged children attending public schools.
- On the National Assessment of Educational Progress, Montana’s reading scores for 4th and 8th graders ranked in the top 10 in the nation.
- Montana 8th graders scored 4th highest in the nation on math assessment tests.
- Montana 8th graders rank #1 in the nation for science scores and 2nd highest in the world.
- The number of Advanced Placement class offerings are increasing, and Montana is ranked 7th highest in the nation for AP test scores.
- Montana’s ACT scores are 4th highest in the US, and SAT scores are consistently higher than the national average; in addition, Bozeman students averaged nearly 30 points higher than their state counterparts on the SAT.
- Montana is one of the top 11 states in the nation sending its high school graduates to college.
- The National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education ranks Montana #5 in the nation in preparing students for college.
- MSU is known as the premier land grant research university in the Rocky Mountain Region; the university has been awarded 43 Goldwater scholarships (premier math and science award) more than Johns Hopkins, Stanford, and Yale have received.
