Dagmar

Established near the North Dakota state line and Canadian border, Dagmar was originally known as “Dronning Dagmar’s Minde” after E.F. Madsen decided Denmark’s Queen Dagmar should be recognized. When Madsen opened the first post office in the area in 1907, the community’s name was shortened to Dagmar. Throughout history to the present day, Dagmar has been a settlement where Danish-Americans participate in various trade enterprises with surrounding communities and their Canadian neighbors.
