Early farmer and county commissioner, Dan Ledgerwood, serves as this community’s namesake. Prior to 1916, Ledger was known as Esper after N. Esper Norman who became the community’s first postmaster. The community has also been called Sterrenberg and Price, but the town’s citizens finally settled on Ledger in 1923, and the settlement grew as the Great Northern Railroad came to town.
