| This is one of those quaint little off the road places we all love to “discover.” On entering this former Catholic church you will find Indian exhibits on your right and cowboy exhibits on your left. Notice the embossed tin walls and ceiling as you enter. There are three old-time storesBrandjord’s, Sterling’s, Scearce’s. There is also a doctor’s office, barber shop, music room, living room, American Legion exhibits, laundry and bedroom. See the first two-way radio in the Mission Valley and other vet memorabilia. In the school room are pictures of Ronan alumni.
There is a kitchen with a large collection of old utensils and appliances. Walk out the back door and find a machine shed with a buggy, belly dump, binder, fanning mill, drill press and a vintage speed boat, “Miss Ronan.” The Stage Stop is a hand-hewn log building featuring dove-tail joinery and is an excellent example of frontier workmanship. Inside the building is a reading room with many old books, a logging display and many other old farming, ranching and mining tools. The museum is open Memorial Day through Labor Day, Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free, but good will offerings are gratefully accepted. |
