Marion

Believed to have been settled first in 1879 and the railroad came through over a decade later. During the years Marion was a base camp for the railroad workers. The train years were short lived when better and less treacherous routes were built. During the construction of the route to Marion about 20 Chinese men were killed during a terrible blast and buried along the now deserted grade. Marion eventually became a lumber town and when that industry faded so did Marion.
