Beartooth Scenic Byway (U.S. Route 212) |

| This drive certainly ranks as one of the most spectacular drives in the United States. Driving south out of Red Lodge, the highway follows Rock Creek through several layers of forest and climbs to high alpine tundra revealing a rugged panorama. Once you cross the high plateau, the drive continues on to the little town of Cooke City and the northeast entrance to Yellowstone National Park. While the mileage for this drive is relatively short, allow yourself the better part of the day for the round trip. You will be stopping often and using a lot of film. | |||||
