| Some consider this the site of the first discovery of gold in Montana. Very little remains of the town, and most information has been found in the diaries of two brothers, Granville and James Stewart. There are a lot of opinions with dates from 1852 to 1858, but Gold Creek was without a doubt among the first. It never became a booming town because other gold discoveries did seem more promising. The infamous Bannack sheriff Henry Plummer made his Montana debut in Gold Creek after arriving from Idaho. |
