This one-room cabin has a wood stove, 4 cots.  No electricity or water.  Need to bring bedding and water. Pack in pack out.  Grizzly area so proper food storage is important. Open all year round.  $30/night.

Location: 19 mi. SW of Big Sky, MT. 33 mi. N of West Yellowstone, MT, then 6 mi. W on Taylor Fork Rd.

Dec 2 - May 15:  Wapiti Creek Road to the cabin is closed to vehicles.

Snowmobile Access to the cabin:  From the Sage Creek Winter Trailhead parking area off of Highway 191 (33 miles north of West Yellowstone), follow the newly relocated Big Sky/Carrot Basin Trail for 6 miles.  Note:  the cabin is located on the edge of a winter wildlife closure area so off-trail snowmobiling around the cabin is permitted only as shown on the Sage Creek Trailhead map or the West Yellowstone Area Snowmobile map.

Non-motorized winter access (ski, snowshoe, etc.):  Taylor Fork road is not maintained for passenger vehicles in the winter and may only be intermittently passable.  Recommended parking for Wapiti Cabin is at the Sage Creek Winter Trailhead just off of Highway 191.  Depending on the condition of Taylor Fork Road, it may be possible to drive to the Wapiti Creek Road Junction and park off of the road.  From this point, ski or snowshoe 2 miles to the cabin.

If the Taylor Fork Road is not drivable, park at the Sage Creek Winter Trailhead parking area and ski or snowshoe 6 miles to the cabin by following the Taylor Fork Road 4 miles to the Wapiti Creek Road, then from there 2 miles to the cabin on the Wapiti Creek Road.

Summer May 16 - December 1

Drive approximately 33 miles north of West Yellowstone on Highway 191 to access both the Sage Creek Tailhead and the Taylor Fork Road (Forest Service Road #134).  The Wapiti Creek Road (Forest Service Road #2522) is located approximately 4 miles west on Taylor Fork Road.  From the Wapiti Creek Road the cabin is located about 2 miles south
