Canyon Creek cabin was built in 1930 as a guard station where rangers could stay when they were working in this area. The cabin has no electricity and no water. Guests need to bring their own water. There is a small parking area at the turnoff about 1/2 mile from the cabin. Open season January. Vault toilets. $20/night fee.
The cabin is located about 13 miles west of Melrose, Montana. From Melrose take Trapper Creek Road for about 5.5 miles. Continue on Canyon Creek Road for approximately 7 miles. Follow the signs to the cabin. It is located about 1/2 mils from the turnoff. Road conditions can be an issue. 4-wheel drive is recommended. Winter access may require snowmobiles, cross country skis or snowshoes for 6 or more miles. Please call ahead for specific road conditions.
