Known simply as “the Beach” by locals, the lake here has a 300-acre beachfront which is a great spot for swimming, sunbathing, and picnicking. There are several shelters here maintained by the Sunrise Rotary Club and plenty of picnic tables. You can fish here for trout, perch, and sunfish. On any given day, you will see a number of windsurfers, kayakers, and canoeists practicing their skills. Also in this area are a number of well-maintained trails for hiking, jogging, or cycling.
There is a beach at the pond which is great for families. The recreation area has public bathrooms, a climbing boulder, volleyball courts, picnic tables, and pavilions. The trail loops around the pond and then weaves around the East Gallatin River just to the north.
