Located on the east side of the Flint Range, this cabin was originally built as a mining cabin in the 1930s. It was later given to the Forest Service and refurbished. Racetrack Cabin is a favorite of hiking enthusiasts during the summer months. The surrounding area is serene and beautiful, and somewhat off the beaten path. No water, vault toilet. Open Season January.
The cabin has one room with three bunk beds. There is a table, chairs, some cooking utensils and dishes, a wood stove is available for cooking as well as heating (wood is supplied). There is no electricity or water at this cabin.$20/night fee.
Directions:
This cabin is 25 miles southwest of Deer Lodge, Montana. From Deer Lodge, take Interstate 90 to the Racetrack exit. Proceed 1 mile west, then south æ mile, then west on Forest Service Road #169 for 5 miles past Racetrack Campground. We recommend using a Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest Visitor Map to find the route to the cabin.
