The cabin was built in 1914 and used as an intermediate stopover station by Forest Service employees working in the area. The cabin is adjacent to Stony Creek Road #241 across from Stony Campground. Open season January.
Drinking water is available across the road at the campground.
There is no garbage service at this site so please pack out what you pack in.
There is no electricity.
There are toilets at the campground across the road.
There is one room, two bunk beds with mattress pads, a wood-burning stove for heat, and a propane cooking stove. Bring your own propane canisters.
There is a table, chairs, some basic kitchen and eating utensils, and firewood.
$20/night fee.
Directions:
The cabin is located about 20 miles west of Philipsburg, Montana. Take Montana Highway 1 north of Philipsburg to County Road #348, then west on Rock Creek Road #102 to the Stony Creek Road #241. Travel southwest on Stony Creek Road #102 for less than 1/8 of a mile to the cabin. Up to 1/4 mile of snowmobile or ski travel may be required in winter.
