An outdoor mining museum displays dredging equipment and other mining artifacts. You can pan for gold and garnets with a little professional help.
The River of Gold Mining exhibit and gold panning experience is a tribute to the gold rush days in Alder Gulch. It is located between Virginia City and Nevada City on Highway 297. Look for the big mining dredge on the west side of the road.
