Challenge cabin is available during the winter from December 1st to March 31st and is located 51 miles east of Hungry Horse, MT on US Hwy 2, then eight miles south on Skyland Road #569. Access involves an 8-mile hike, snowshoe, or snowmobile to the cabin.
Challenge has rustic accommodations including a propane cook stove, lights, wood stove, firewood, and a vault toilet. Renters should pack their own drinking water and bedding. Party size is 5 with a bunk bed and a small loft. Please pack out what you brought including your garbage. Grizzly bears live in the area; store your food, beverages, coolers, and garbage inside the cabin. Pets are allowed. Please pick up after your pet! Commercial use of the cabins is prohibited (outfitter guides, groups, or organizations with compensated leaders/chaperones).
$50/night fee.
Directions: Challenge Cabin is located 51 miles east of Hungry Horse, MT on USHighway 2, then eight miles south on Skyland Road #569. Park in the plowed area along US Highway 2, then hike, snowmobile, ski, or snowshoe the eight miles to the cabin along the groomed snowmobile trail. You cannot drive to Challenge Cabin.
