After years serving as a landmark in this sleepy town of Fromberg, the museum and bar burned in 2013. The museum was an odd collection of memorabilia from owner Shirley Smith’s life and times as proprietor of the bar. The collection included artifacts, oddities, autographs and general memorabilia that spanned nearly a century of life in the area. The bar was a local gathering place where the spirit of Montana and the ranch lifestyle of the area was celebrated. Clippings, photographs, worn weapons, the hat of legendary bronc rider Turk Greenough, an insect collection, and a huge collection of other items and curiousities. The bar and museum, now under new ownership was rebuilt in 2015 and the museum restocked with most of the original items recovered from the ruins of the fire. The museum and bar were featured in an article in Esquire Magazine, and has been considered one of the best cowboy bars in the country. Easy to drive by, but a must stop on your way through Fromberg.
