It is a good idea to tackle this drive only if you have good clearance and a 4WD vehicle. It’s 23 miles through the Custer National Forest and it is not for the faint of heart. It is impassable from November through April. A complete brochure describing this drive is available from the Ashland Ranger District office. This is an excellent drive for viewing wildlife. You’ll see pronghorn antelope, deer, wild turkeys, songbirds, and more. To get there from Ashland go three miles east on US 212. Go south on CR 484 (Otter Creek Road) for 19 miles to CR 95 (Cow Creek Road). This is where the drive begins.
