The city of Billings is Montana’s largest, but not its capital. The area surrounding Billings is rimrock with the Beartooth mountains towering to the South. The area is home to the Little Big Horn battlefield, and the Crow/Cheyenne Reservation. The Yellowstone River flows through Billings and hosts Pompey’s Pillar, the only physical evidence of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. To the south is the Bighorn Canyon surrounding a lake that extends 70 miles and is surrounded by towering cliffs hundreds of feet high.
