Powderville

About 35 miles northeast of Broadus is the little town of Powderville. This site was originally known as the Elkhorn Crossing of the old Deadwood Stage. If you look real hard, you can still see the route the wagons took where they forded the river here. Just west of the Powderville Post Office is the Boot Hill Cemetery which is maintained by the Powder River Historical Society. The post office here was established in 1872.
