Ross Fork’s name combines the memory of an early pioneer family named Ross and notes the town’s location at the fork of the Judith River and Rock Creek. When the Great Northern Railroad came to town in 1912, Ross Fork’s population swelled. Eventually, the railroad station was abandoned, and most residents and businesses followed suit, abandoning the community.
