Sixteen, the town, lies just west and south of Ringling, Montana, and is virtually non-existent today. It began as a small railroad station for the Milwaukee Railroad and lies at the head of Sixteen Mile Canyon. This Canyon runs down to the Missouri River and was the transitional route for the Milwaukee line to get off the plateau of the Montana Plains, and down to river level.
