Missoula sits on the Clark Fork River surrounded by mountains scarred by a pre-historic massive glacial lake. It is the home of Montana State University. The Missoula Area includes the Seeley Chain of Lakes. Swan Lake, Seeley Lake, Salmon Lake, Placid Lake, Holland Lake, and Lake Alva are just a few of the lakes nestled in the wilderness of the Lolo National Forest. This area is enjoyed by campers, boaters, fishermen, and hikers. The Hiawatha Mountain Bike Trail located on the Idaho/Montana border is a 15-mile historic trail through cavernous train tunnels and over sky-high train trestles that is enjoyed by all levels of bikers.
