Polson has a thriving resort business heavily oriented toward boating and fishing on Flathead Lake. Fishermen come from all over North America to set their reel to the deep waters of the Flathead Lake, gouged by the last glaciers.
Located in the middle of the Flathead Indian Reservation, Paul Bunyan is said to have gouged the sheer walls of the Flathead River Gorge which allows drainage of the lake. Kerr Dam regulates the flow of water at a rate of half-million gallons per second. At 204 feet, the concrete dam is more than 50 feet higher than Niagara Falls. Watch for the glorious sunrises and sunsets which accent the beautiful Mission Mountains.
