This small town began as a Burlington Northern railroad station. The tracks were mainly used to ship limestone from the Pryor Mountains to various sugar factories. The first post office was established in 1911, with George Town presiding as its first postmaster. The post closed in 1953. Since that time, residents have received their mail through Frannie, Wyoming, as Warren is located on the border of Wyoming and Montana.
