Just up the road from Alzada at the junction of U.S. 212 and state highway, 59 is Broadus, the county seat of Powder River County. In the center of the County and right in the middle of some of the finest wildlife in the country, Broadus is an excellent destination for photographers and hunters.
The Powder River Valley was considered the last great hunting ground of the natives. It’s common to find arrowheads and artifacts as you hike through these ancient lands. Many of the world’s finest skeletal remains were discovered in this former coastal region and the mighty T-rex was the ruler of this land millions of years ago. Check your Jurassic maps dinosaur enthusiasts; you have just found a very special place. This was an ancient coastal region and therefore one of the best deposits of fossilized bone and plant life ever found.
