Rising from the Yellowstone valley and surrounding prairies is a broad region of hogback ridges, fluted hillsides, pinnacles, and caprocks that ornament a network of buttes know as Makoshika State Park. These badlands expose rock layers older than those in the badlands of the Dakotas. The small cattle town of Miles City has ample lodging, dining, and shopping opportunities. Glendive is home to the world-famous Paddlefish fishery.
