There are several versions of how the creek from which this town took its name from got its name. All agree that it was from a name the Indians gave it. Some say it was "Creek where the wolf jumped too." Others say it was "Creek where the wolf jumped to." The files of the Great Northern Railroad claim the origin is "Creek that the wolf jumped in." In each case, the wording changes the story behind the name. One thing is for sure—it had something to do with a wolf.
