his is one of the oldest towns along the Rocky Mountain Front. Ît takes its name from Dupuyer Creek. The name came from the French word depouilles, which fur trappers and explorers used to describe the back fat of a buffalo.
This was a delicacy revered by both the whites and the Indians. The town came was a stage stop on the bull team freight route between Fort Benton and Fort Browning.
